Praziquantel is the drug you need to get rid of tapeworms. I believe it is available over-the-counter. Be very careful to follow instructions. If the medication says for dogs only, do not use it on cats. Cats are not small dogs and using a dosage chart for a dog could cause overdoses in a cat. Medicine safe for a 10 lb dog could be lethal for a 10 lb cat.

Deworming should always be done at least twice, with 3-4 weeks between doses.

postheadericon Removing Ticks – Pet Health Articles

To remove an attached tick, use a pair of fine-tipped tweezers or special tick removal instruments. These special devices allow one to remove the tick without squeezing the tick body. This is important, as you do not want to crush the tick and force harmful bacteria to leave the tick and enter the dog’s bloodstream

1. Grab the tick by the head or mouth parts right where they enter the skin. Do not grasp the tick by the body.

2 Without jerking, pull firmly and steadily directly outward. Do not twist the tick as you are pulling.

A second concept to keep in mind about tick removal is that a dead tick can’t open its mouth-parts to let itself go. This has two important consequences. Firstly, this is the primary reason owners bring me in their pets: they want me to remove the tick’s “head.” (Ticks, by definition, don’t have heads; they have a capitulum.) And the reason the head is still embedded in their pet is because they killed the tick first before trying to remove it.

    How To Install Bird Spikes

Bird spikes are a very useful mechanism for bird control. They keep unwanted birds such as pigeons from landing and nesting in areas and on surfaces where they do not belong. Even better, bird spikes keep birds away from a desired area without actually harming the bird. There are many ways to install bird spikes. The method you should use depends on where you want to put the spikes, the material they are to be installed on (such as brick or wood) and the size of the spikes.
